Conflict Management

  A recent study by CPP, Inc. reports the inability for managers to effectively manage conflict and bring about positive resolution is costing organizations nearly one full day of productivity per month — two and a half weeks per year. The study found that 70 percent of employees surveyed believe managing conflict is a critically important leadership skill. And 54 percent of employees believe managers could handle disputes more effectively by addressing underlying tensions immediately when they surface.

The aim of this 1-day workshop is to introduce practical conflict resolution techniques and strategies that managers and team leaders can effectively utilize when managing conflict in the workplace:

Building Trust

Trust is perhaps the most important element of a successful workplace. Organizations whose members trust them tend to have a more engaged workforce and a high efficiency work environment. The key to building trust within an organization is building it in to the day-to-day interactions between yourself and others. In short, trust begins with you.

This 1/2 – day workshop puts the participants on the spot as sources of trust and provides them with practical techniques to building it by exploring the three Cs of trust:

Decision Making

 Whether deciding which person to hire, which supplier to use, or which strategy to pursue, the ability of a manager to make a good decision with available information is vital. Every decision presents its own challenges, and we all have different ways of approaching problems. While there is no single formula to good decision making, there are practical and effective rules-of-thumb that help a manager structure the decision-making process and specific tools and resources that can help improve this critical competency.

This 1-day workshop introduces participants to the decision-making process and techniques and tools to move through each:

  • The relationship between problem solving and decision making

Meetings That Matter

According to a study done by the Bureau for Labor Statistics in 1995, managers spend 60% of their time in meetings and about $37 billion dollars are spent on meetings per year in the US. Another study by Wolf Management Consultants suggests about 50% of the time spent in meetings is entirely useless, usually due to the lack of any kind of agenda or plan regarding the meeting itself.

In this 1-day workshop, participants are given the knowledge and skill needed to prepare for and facilitate meetings that matter. This workshop is not just about having a meeting agenda, it explores the purpose and dynamics of productive meetings and how to create meetings that matter. It is designed to primarily benefit all people who facilitate or lead meetings, regardless of their level within their organization. It can also help people who regularly participate in meetings as well. Topics include:
